Chili Lime Mango Dessert Tacos with Lime Cream Cheese Sauce

This chili lime mango dessert taco recipe is a fun and unique spin on dessert. Our chili seasoning combined with the sweetness of the mango and zesty flavor of the lime creates a new explosion of flavor. It is a fun recipe to serve at parties or on taco Tuesdays. 

Dessert tacos are a fun and unique way to enjoy tacos but in the form of dessert. Some might remember the classic chocolate tacos with their ice cream middle and chocolate-flavored shell. Another fun take on dessert tacos is creating a cinnamon sugar-dusted shell that is filled with apple pie filling and topped with whipped cream. These tacos are unique, fun, and a good conversation starter at parties. 

Our unique twist on dessert tacos features the combination of our chili seasoning and fresh diced mangos to create a fun flavor pairing. We have already learned that our chili seasoning paired with mango creates a fun sweet and spicy flavor to be enjoyed. We are also adding a hint of sweetness and tart with honey and lime. Topped with a creamy lime sauce and enveloped in a crispy fried sugar-dusted shell this will be a fun new treat to share with friends or add to your recipe book. If you enjoy a sweet with a little spicy and some cream, this is a recipe for you. 

Prep the Chili Lime Mango Taco Filling

The first step in the recipe is to make the chili lime mango taco filling. By making this first it allows you to let the mango infuse with the sweet chili lime sauce it is coated in. 

In a medium bowl mix together 2 diced mangos, ½ lime juice from 2 juiced limes or ¼ cup of lime juice,1 ½  tablespoons honey, and 2 teaspoons Chugwater Chili Seasoning. 

If you want you can pre mix the lime juice, honey, and chili seasoning then add to the mango. 

Combine until mango is coated in seasoning. Set aside or place in the refrigerator to keep cool. 

Create the Lime Cream Cheese Sauce: 

Next, we want to create the lime cream cheese sauce. 

Whisk together ½ brick of cream cheese that has been softened or 4 ounces of whipped cream cheese, the remaining lime juice which is about ¼ cup, 1 ½ tablespoons of honey, and ½ teaspoon of lime zest until well combined. It should have a more creamy consistency and not be super stiff. We want to be able to drizzle this on top of our tacos. 

Fry the Taco Shells  

Heat about 2 cups of oil in a small pan. Add a small flour tortilla shell and cook until the shell is golden. When you pull it out, drape it to let the oil drip off and form a taco shape. I got taco stands and this helped with forming the taco shape.

Dust with sugar or powdered sugar until the shell is covered. If you want some extra spice you can add a little chili seasoning into the sugar when dusting the shell.  

Another option is to use Indian fry bread as the base and add the chili lime mango on top of it. 

Assemble the Dessert Tacos 

Scoop a spoonful of the mango mixture into the shell. Drizzle the cream cheese sauce on top. 

How to Serve the Chili Lime Mango Dessert Tacos 

This recipe is fun if you just want a unique dessert to enjoy. It is also fun to share with friends at parties or potlucks. It will become the talk of the party. You will want to serve these chilled right away so that the taco shell does not become soggy and fall apart. If you enjoy sweet and spicy with the touch of crunchy this is a recipe to try.
