Sliders are a fun, quick, and easy treat to make. They are often made for parties or potlucks because you can make many of them at the same time. You can use a variety of fillings for sliders. From cheeseburger sliders with ground beef to sloppy joe sliders or chicken sandwich sliders. These mini sandwiches are cute, fun, and really easy to make. They are great if you have to serve many people or even small children.
Our sweet and savory ham sliders are a fun twist on a classic ham and cheese slider. We add a touch of sweetness with our sweet red pepper jelly. When you add it with ham and cheese in between Hawaiian rolls then it creates a fun sweet and savory combination of flavor. These will become a fun new go-to treat for snacking, a party appetizer, or meal prep.
Preparing the Rolls
You will take a pack of 12 Hawaiian rolls and slice them in half to create a top and bottom. You want to make a sandwich with the rolls. If you leave them together and use a bread knife they are easy to slice through.
Place the bottom part on a baking sheet that has been sprayed with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
Adding the Slider Filling
On the bottom layer add a layer of sliced ham. I usually just get pre-sliced ham from the grocery store or deli. It makes it easy to have the thinly sliced ham already cut. You want to create a layer with it that is not too thick or too thin but usually a couple of slices deep.
Next, add a layer of thin sliced Swiss or provolone cheese. These cheeses are mild yet have a nice flavor when you add them to the ham.
On the top layer of the rolls, you will want to spread a layer of Chugwater Red Pepper Jelly on the cut side. You can go as thick or thin as you want just depending how much sweetness you want in this recipe.
Place the top layer of rolls onto the ham and cheese with the jelly side down.
Baking the Ham Sliders
Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes or until the cheese has melted in the sliders. Halfway through you can baste melted butter over the top of the sliders to get them to turn more golden and add a touch of buttery goodness to the sliders.
Serving Sweet and Savory Ham Sliders
These are super easy to serve. Once you pull them out of the oven you will want to take a sharp knife and slice them into squares. This is easy because they are already presliced and have a guide for you to follow when slicing. After that, you can keep them together or arrange them on a platter for serving at parties. These sweet and savory ham sliders will become a fun, quick, and easy new treat to enjoy. You can even serve them with some sweet mustard on the side to dunk in. If you want to meal prep with them you can wrap them individually with some parchment paper to store them in the fridge. Then take them out and heat them in the microwave to get them warm or just enjoy them cold. This is a new recipe that you will keep at the top of your recipe box.
